PostgreSQL support for Voting API (Drupal Module)

Digg this!

I love PostgreSQL and I'm always disappointed when software only works with MySQL. I won't get into a pros and cons rant on the two databases, I'm not sure if PostgreSQL is better, but I'm familiar with it so it's my preference. I think originally I was turned off of MySQL because there were no foreign keys. Oh right! I said I wasn't going to start a rant.

So I was working on a product review section of Exercise Equipment Review and started shopping around for some Drupal Modules. There are so many different review modules and I did want to install all of them. This article at Lullabot was really helpful,  it didn't take long to figure out that the "userreview" module would do the trick for my purposes.

The problem is, the userreview module and it's dependant Voting API module only worked with MySQL. Instead of waiting for PostgreSQL to be supported someday I decided to figure out how to code a .install file. Anyway, it was no big deal, just thought I'd share. Maybe you will find it useful or maybe the other depedant modules will gain PostgreSQL support starting with this. See below, I've attached the files to this posting. Hopefully they'll be included in the next CVS releases of those modules though.

Before you do anything, think. If you do something to try and impress someone, to be loved, accepted or even to get someone's attention, stop and think. So many people are busy trying to create an image, they die in the process.

The toughest question has always been, "How do you get your ideas?" How do you answer that? It's like asking runners how they run, or singers how they sing. They just do it!
